Councillor Clare Whelan visits our Green Team

Councillor Clare Whelan, a local councillor with a strong interest in the environment, visited Corpus Christi last Friday to meet our Green Team.  The children were eager to talk about all the many activities which have resulted in our school being awarded the nationally acclaimed 'Green Flag' award which now proudly flies outside the school.

Councillor Whelan commented that she was most impressed by the pupils and described them as 'a credit to their school'.  Photos of Councillor Whelan's visit are in the Gallery under Green Team.

Christmas Fair

Another wonderful Christmas Fair - £10,000 raised  for the school. See Gallery for photos

Thank you to all parents, children, former pupils and the many friends of Corpus Christi who attended the Christmas Fair on 3 December.  It was a great success with lots of very happy children busy enjoying themselves.  Santa and the Huskies were clearly the favourites.  Many parents commented on the relaxed and friendly atmosphere and on the wide range of good quality items on sale.

A very special thank you to the fantastic Chritmas Fair team who have worked so hard all year to make the event such a success - Lucy Hamer, Mel Campbell, Anne Rodger, Sonya O'Sullivan, Rachel De Almeida, Caroline Cass-Wilder and Anna Couzens - and also to over 100 helpers who staffed the stalls and events.

Thank you to eveyone!

School Council visit to Houses of Parliament

On 21 November 2011, our School Council visited the Houses of Parliament.  The children were able to see the chambers in the Commons and the Lords and to take part in a vote in one of the committee rooms.  Children are elected from each class in the school to represent their class in discussing ideas for the school.

New to the Gallery

Remembrance Day

Tribute to the fallen

Corpus Christi tok part in the nation's tribute to the fallen by observing the 11 o'clock silence during our Remembrance Day service.

The last post was movingly played by Corpus Christi trumpeters as the head boy, head girl and deputy head boy and girl lowered the Union Flag and School Flag.

Special guests were Mr Harry Powell, an ex-serviceman, his son Philip, Michael Burke and Councillor John Whelan.  Fr Tom Heneghan our parish priest and Jamie Muir, chair of governors, were also present.

Pictures of the event are in the Gallery under 'Remembrance'

Harvest Festival

Corpus Christi families show their support for the homeless

Corpus Christi families responded with their usual generosity in supporting the Ace of Clubs with gifts from our Harvest Festival.  The Ace of Clubs is a local charity, based in St Alphonsus Road, Clapham, working with local rough sleepers and adults in difficulty.

The huge amount of food and a range of other household goods has been sent on the charity, who were delighted with such a wonderful response.
